Every School has a Governing Body to represent the public in the running of schools.  School Governors bring perspectives from ordinary life and work with the staff and the Local Authority to help secure the best possible education for school children

Lynne Hill and Jayne Hodgkiss - Co-Chairs of Governors

Welcome to the website for St. Margaret’s Church of England (Aided) Primary School. The governing body in all schools has responsibility for the overall running of the school. In an ‘Aided’ school this includes maintaining the fabric of the premises and grounds, obtaining funding through grants, loans, or lettings and managing expansion to the premises when needed, such as, buildings and improvements.

Our most important role is to provide support for the head teacher and senior management, being a ‘critical friend’ when needed. An aided school employs its own staff from head teacher down, is responsible for overseeing the curriculum, financial management and ethos and culture within the school in conjunction with the head teacher and senior management.

The governing body at St Margaret’s school is made up of a wide range of people from all walks of life and professional backgrounds, including teachers, educational leaders and educational specialists, accountants, solicitors, HR professionals and clergy.  The governing body has many years experience in governance within primary education and each governor is passionately committed to ensuring that ‘every child matters’ at St Margaret’s School.  We are aspirational for all children within our care and alongside the excellent teaching staff and Head Teacher at our school we strive to provide the best academic and spiritual education for all.
