UPDATE: Tuesday 12th December

This is the latest information from Solihull Local Authority.

‘Following discussions with head teachers and colleagues in highways, Solihull Council is not issuing a blanket closure of council-run schools for Wednesday 13 December.

Each school will have to make their own decision about whether to open or not, based on local conditions and the safety of children and young people.

Schools and other educational settings will making a full assessment of their particular circumstance before reaching a final decision.

Parents and carers should check their school websites, social media feeds and listen out to local radio for updates on whether their school is open or not.’

So, overnight it looks to be very cold again with some rain that may freeze.

I am anxious to have school open but must balance that with safety of all.  Whilst I can make an assessment of the school site I cannot do this for pavements and roads where you all are.

I will aim to be in school by 6.30am tomorrow to make a further risk assessment and will update the communication channels then.

In the meantime if the majority of local schools decide to close I will go with that decision and notify you accordingly.

Christmas Lunch cancelled tomorrow.

Sadly, due to the current bad weather conditions Mrs Bennett has not received her food order delivery to school.  We must therefore sadly cancel the Christmas lunch planned for the children tomorrow.

The menu for tomorrow (Wednesday 13th December) will be:

  • ·        Pork Meatballs served with gravy
  • ·        Vegetarian Quiche
  • ·        Quorn Swedish-style balls served in gravy

Tennis before school tomorrow morning (Wednesday 13th December) has been cancelled.
